Spiller Concedes Race, Congratulates Congresswoman Sherrill

Below is a statement from Sean Spiller on this evenings results.

“First, I want to congratulate Congresswoman Sherrill on her hard-fought victory tonight. Now is the time for all of us to come together and ensure that an extreme politician like Jack Ciatarelli never sets foot in the Governor’s office.

We always knew what we were up against when we launched this campaign - the wealthy special interests and insiders who don’t want to give working people a voice in their government. I’m incredibly proud of the work we did to drive forward issues of fairness and affordability, and proud of the thousands of grassroots supporters who came together to support our campaign. I’m also incredibly proud to live in a country where an immigrant, a Black man, and a school teacher can run for Governor and compete.

While we fell short, the fight for New Jersey’s families continues. I will continue to use my voice for the people of New Jersey - to make our state more affordable for working class folks, to protect public education and our unions and to make sure that every resident feels safe and secure in a bright future.  That is why I became a teacher and a union leader.  It is why I ran for Governor.  It is who I am and will continue to be.”
