Springfield Democratic Party Announces Chris Weber and Alex Keiser as nominees for Township Committee election

SPRINGFIELD – The Springfield Democratic Party has announced Chris Weber and Alex Keiser as its nominees for this year’s Township Committee election.
Party Chairman David Barnett commented: “I’m excited about the energy of this year’s candidates and eager to work with them to continue the progress Springfield has made and to implement progressive change at the local level.”
Chris Weber, an 11 year resident of Springfield, is a realtor, father of three and a retired detective from the Newark Police Department. After an accomplished career in law enforcement, he transitioned to Keller Williams, where both he and his wife are licensed real estate agents. Chris has three children and currently coaches girls’ softball in town. “We live in an incredibly safe town” Weber said, “I feel blessed that I can raise my family here. We live here, work here, shop here, and have great friends, all in one place!” Weber is committed to delivering an equitable return-on-investment for resident tax dollars, maintaining the safety of Springfield, and ensuring we all have a wonderful place to live.
Alex Keiser is a lifelong Springfield resident and has been involved in government since he was 19 years old. Keiser currently serves as Chief of Staff to Assemblyman John F. McKeon, and has previously served on Congressman Frank Pallone’s Senate campaign, as well as in an intern capacity for the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU). “Today’s political climate has denigrated and disparaged public service and requires my generation to find a way to rise above the divisiveness and partisanship,” he says. He noted that “recent events are leading young individuals to become more engaged in the political process” and asserts “it’s time for the torch, as President Kennedy declared in 1961, to be passed to a new generation. It’s time for our generation to lead and help solve the issues at hand – we are the future.” In addition to ensuring the efficient spending of tax dollars, Keiser is passionate about the environment and looks forward to helping the township reduce its carbon footprint.
Weber and Keiser are seeking the formal Democratic nominations in the June 5th primary in order to run in the November 6th general election.
THE SPRINGFIELD DEMOCRATIC PARTY holds meetings at Chisholm Community Center, right across the hallway from the gymnasium, at 7:30pm on the fourth Monday of each month. More information can be found at www.springfieldnjdems.org.
