Statement from Governor Phil Murphy on the Passing of Former State Senator Frank Herbert 

“Tammy and I were saddened to hear of the passing of Senator Frank Herbert, who for decades has been a leading advocate for public transit in New Jersey and one of the founding fathers of NJ TRANSIT.

“Frank will be remembered for his dedication to shaping the state’s transportation policy and providing innovative solutions for transit issues throughout the state. Frank worked side-by-side with Governor Brendan Byrne and Transportation Commissioner Lou Gambaccini in providing New Jerseyans a strong transit system to travel to and from everyday commitments.”

“We mourn his passing and offer heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones.”
