Statement by Senator Kip Bateman Regarding the Tax Incentive Program
“I wanted to take this opportunity to clarify my remarks of last week regarding New Jersey’s tax incentive program which I feel were taken out of context. While on vacation with my family and traveling out of state I was not aware that senate and assembly Republican leadership issued a joint statement on these programs. To be clear, I wholeheartedly agree with the sentiments expressed by leaders Kean and Bramnick. There is no question that the GrowNJ program has been instrumental in Camden’s revitalization over the past decade. The fact is that every state program can be improved and this one is no different. Our focus as a legislative body should be in making sure that any incentive program is administered fairly and with appropriate oversight. I look forward to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to ensure that New Jersey remains competitive in this region by attracting new businesses and capital that these critical programs provide.”
