Statement from Speaker Coughlin on Primary Victories

Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin announces that the Assembly Commerce and Economic Development Committee will conduct hearings to examine the efficacy and viability of tax incentive programs administered by the NJEDA.

I want to congratulate my fellow caucus members on well-earned victories following yesterday’s primary election. The Assembly has proudly demonstrated its ability to fight for working and middle class families and we thank the voters for recognizing our efforts.

As we look ahead to our next task – passing a balanced budget – our caucus will focus on reforming NJ Transit, providing quality education and access to good paying jobs, and protecting middle class values.

Last year, the Legislature put forth a budget that has proven to be fiscally responsible and surpassed revenue expectations. I am confident that we will work together to again put forth a budget that provides that same economic stability and growth.

Again, congratulations to my colleagues in the Assembly and I look forward to continuing to work with each of you to allow New Jersey to serve as a model state for others to follow suit.
