Suleiman Launches NoNorthJerseyCasinos.com to Protect Atlantic City from Casino Expansion
(GALLOWAY) South Jersey Forward founder Michael Suleiman today announced the launch of NoNorthJerseyCasinos.com, a new advocacy campaign dedicated to protecting Atlantic City's status as New Jersey's only destination for casino gaming.
"Atlantic City was where my parents worked to put food on our table: my mom at the Sands and my dad at Taj," said Michael Suleiman. "We saw what happened when four casinos closed: foreclosures and unemployment spiked, thousands were laid off, and families all across South Jersey suffered. If North Jersey casinos are allowed, the economic devastation down here will be ten times worse.”
NoNorthJerseyCasinos.com provides New Jersey residents with the ability to contact their state legislators directly and voice their opposition to any referendum that allows for North Jersey casinos. Residents can also sign up to receive free “No North Jersey Casinos” bumper stickers so they can spread the word while they’re on the go.
The website launch comes in direct response to reports in publications like The New York Times where state lawmakers are gearing up to place the North Jersey constitutional amendment on the ballot as soon as this November.
"North Jersey casinos won’t help the State recoup gaming revenue from New York,” said Suleiman. “The only ones that will benefit from North Jersey casinos are greedy corporations who care more about their bottom line than Atlantic County’s shore line.”
South Jersey Forward will soon hold a virtual roundtable to dissect the arguments proponents have been making about North Jersey casinos.
