Planned Parenthood of Metropolitan New Jersey Launches Impact Giving Campaign to Protect and Expand Access to Care
NEWARK, NJ — Planned Parenthood of Metropolitan New Jersey (PPMNJ) is proud to announce the launch of its Impact Giving Campaign, a bold, community-powered effort to raise $500,000 in new, unrestricted funding to safeguard reproductive health care access across Essex, Hudson, and Passaic Counties following federal Medicaid defunding.
To kick off the campaign, a $100,000 matching fund, established by members of PPMNJ’s dedicated donors and Board of Directors, will double the impact of every new or increased gift through May 31, 2026, ensuring contributions go twice as far in supporting patients who rely on PPMNJ’s services.
Approximately 50% of PPMNJ’s patients rely on Medicaid and last year Medicaid reimbursements totaled nearly $2.5 million. That entire funding stream was eliminated following federal defunding of Planned Parenthood nationwide. Even so, PPMNJ made the difficult decision to double down on its mission and continue accepting patients who rely on Medicaid—fully aware that reimbursement for that care is no longer available.
“When faced with the daunting news of last year’s federal Medicaid cuts, every single member of our board held firm that care must continue for all patients, no matter what,” said David Robin, Chair of PPMNJ's Board of Trustees. “As trustees, we made clear that our mission and our patients are always our first thought and top priority. The Impact Giving Campaign is not just about raising funds; it’s about affirming that essential services will never be compromised for the communities who depend on us. We remain unwavering in our commitment to ensuring that no patient is denied essential reproductive health services because of political decisions beyond their control.”
This commitment is strongly reflected in PPMNJ’s programs and services. “Last year, we served 22,537 patients and provided more than 39,000 visits across six health centers — a 19% increase over 2024,” said Roslyn Rogers Collins, President and Chief Executive Officer of PPMNJ. “No matter the challenge we may be facing, we refuse to turn a blind eye to our patients’ needs, so we doubled down and did the work. That includes providing 2,252 cancer screenings, 57,617 STI tests and treatments, 79,172 cycles of birth control, 882 gender-affirming visits, expanding access to medication abortion using telehealth, opening our Mulberry health center seven days a week, eliminating transportation barriers by providing more than 5,600 free rides to and from our health centers, and so much more. These programs exist because patients cannot wait for politics to catch up — and neither will we.”
“Because our board and staff are so committed to our communities and patient-centered care, we made a bold choice: meet rising demand and ensure patients have access to essential services, no matter what,” said Debbie Hochman, Board Member and Chair of the Development Committee. “With increased service numbers and the impact on community health at large, the choice was clearly the right one. Now, the Impact Giving Campaign gives our supporters the opportunity to help fund these programs and innovations. Our patients are at the center of everything we do. This campaign ensures we can continue providing care, advancing health, and protecting access for everyone who needs it.”
The Impact Giving Campaign offers supporters an opportunity to multiply their contributions, with matching funds applying to new or increased gifts, sponsorships, and PPMNJ’s signature events, including the upcoming second-annual Rage Run: 5K for Reproductive Freedom in South Orange. The campaign addresses both immediate financial needs and strengthens PPMNJ’s long-term resilience as the organization approaches its 100th anniversary in 2028.
