SWAIN & TULLY SUPPORT DYE’S TERMINATION FROM STATE JOB
Members Condemn Dye’s Comments, Stand With Asm. Schaer
PARAMUS, NJ, Aug. 27th, 2019: Assemblywoman Lisa Swain and Assemblyman Chris Tully of New Jersey’s 38th Legislative District support the state’s decision to terminate Jeffrey Dye from his role with the New Jersey Department of Labor.
The Assembly Members have released the following statement:
“Public officials in New Jersey should represent the best of us in terms of their judgment, ethics, and commitment to our shared values of acceptance and cultural understanding. Mr. Dye’s racially divisive comments and social media posts are clear evidence that his conduct falls short of that standard.
We support Mr. Dye’s termination because New Jersey must send a strong message that hate and divisiveness have no place in our state. We also stand behind Assemblyman Gary Schaer, our dear friend and colleague, who was unfairly targeted by Mr. Dye with malicious smears. Assemblyman Schaer is a compassionate public servant and a man of great personal integrity. We are proud to serve alongside him.”
Assemblywoman Swain added the following statement: “As a Jewish woman, I am personally outraged by the anti-Semitic rhetoric that Mr. Dye has espoused on social media. At a time when synagogues and Jewish communities in our country are increasingly being targeted with threats of violence, it is chilling to see this kind of hate being spread in New Jersey.”
