Swain & Tully Sworn into General Assembly
Will Succeed Lagana and Eustace

(TRENTON) – Lisa Swain, former Mayor of Fair Lawn, and Christopher Tully, former Council President of Bergenfield and District Director for U.S. Representative Josh Gottheimer (D-CD5), were sworn into the Assembly by Speaker Craig Coughlin on Thursday, May 24, 2018. They will both be representing the 38th District and take the seats of now-Senator Joseph Lagana and former Assemblyman Tim Eustace, respectively.

Prior to being sworn into the Assembly, Swain had spent 11 years on town council with two terms serving as Mayor of Fair Lawn. In addition, she is a triathlete coach who has previously managed a law firm, and she has lived in Fair Lawn for 23 years with her husband, Ron, and their two daughters.

“I am eager to begin serving all the residents of the 38th Legislative District,” said Swain. “I welcome the challenge to tackle issues that impact our residents at the state level, and I promise to be a strong voice in Trenton for my constituents.”

Tully has a wealth of experience in public service that he will be able to employ in his new role. He previously worked with the offices of former acting Governor Richard Codey and U.S. Senator Frank Lautenberg. At age 26, he was elected to the Bergenfield Council and served for eight years, including time as chair of the finance committee and as Council President. Most recently, he served as District Director to U.S. Representative Josh Gottheimer, overseeing all constituent services and outreach for the fifth Congressional district.

“As a councilman, I learned the importance of being accessible to, and communicating with, my constituents,” said Tully. “I will ensure that same level of outreach and accountability remains between myself and all te residents of all the towns in the 38th district.”

The 38th Legislative District is comprised of the following Bergen and Passaic county towns: Bergenfield, Fair Lawn, Glen Rock, Hasbrouck Heights, Hawthorne, Lodi, Maywood, New Milford, Oradell, Paramus, River Edge, Rochelle Park, and Saddle Brook.
