Sweeney Announces Postponement of Special Committee for Economic Growth Strategies’ First Meeting

Trenton – Due to the need for the legislative voting session on June 27th, Senate President Steve Sweeney and Select Committee Chair Bob Smith have postponed the committee’s first meeting.

“Our expectation as we entered this week was that June 20th would be our final legislative voting session before the summer recess, and therefore we would be able to focus solely on the Special Committee on June 24th. Instead, it was clear yesterday that we would need one more session day in order to fully conclude the business of the Senate.

“After speaking with Chairman Smith, we have decided to postpone the first meeting of the committee until the general business of the legislature has concluded and the committee members are able to devote, entirely, their attention to the task of the committee. A new date for the first meeting will be announced shortly.”
