Sweeney Praises Expected Selection of First African American President of Rutgers

TRENTON –Senate President Steve Sweeney issued the following statement today praising the expected selection, first reported by NJ Advance Media, of Dr. Jonathan Holloway as the next President of Rutgers University:

“The expected selection of Dr. Jonathan Holloway as the next President of Rutgers will be an historic move that reflects admirably on Rutgers and the State of New Jersey. Coming close to Martin Luther King Day adds meaning to the fact that Dr. Holloway will be the first African American to lead New Jersey’s State University. Everyone in New Jersey can take pride in the progress of this appointment.  I look forward to working with Dr. Holloway in a new era of educational excellence and social achievement.”
