Sweeney Receives the Chamber of Commerce of Southern New Jersey’s Public Service Award

Trenton – Senate President Steve Sweeney was the recipient of the 2019 Public Service Award at the Chamber of Commerce of Southern New Jersey’s Pinnacle Awards. The awards dinner also honored Debra “Deb” DiLorenzo, the President & CEO of CCSNJ, and Kathleen “Kathy” Davis, the Executive VP & COO of CCSNJ prior to their retirement at the end of this year.

“Since my time as Gloucester County Freeholder Director, I have been steadfast in my commitment to preserving the role small businesses play in maintaining a thriving community,” said Senator Sweeney (D-Gloucester/Salem/Cumberland). “Economic growth starts in our local communities and I am honored to be here tonight with Deb and Kathy, who have dedicated decades to making South Jersey a better, more economically vibrant place to live and work. Serving South Jersey has been one of the greatest honors of my life, and it is made all the better when I get to work hand in hand with smart, thoughtful and engaged leaders in our community like Deb and Kathy.”

The Chamber of Commerce Southern New Jersey (CCSNJ) is the region’s largest, most active, and influential business organization. Started in 1873 as the Camden Board of Trade, the CCSNJ has grown to represent the seven counties of Southern New Jersey, Greater Philadelphia and Northern Delaware.

“Senate President Sweeney has long been an important ally for the South Jersey business community for many years,” said CCSNJ Senior Vice President Christina M. Renna. “He understands the trials and difficulties associated with starting or expanding a business and has been a strong business advocate since his time as a Freeholder. Senator Sweeney’s ongoing push for the bipartisan Path to Progress reforms aiming to curb New Jersey’s fiscal crisis is the type of economic foresight possessed by a great public servant, and it is why we presented him with the award this year.”

The Chamber of Commerce of Southern New Jersey provides its members with opportunities to network with other members, businesses resources to enhance their position in the marketplace and a collective voice on public policy issues that impact their operations and profitability.
