Sweeney, Weinberg Visit Bright Side Manor

Trenton – Senate President Steve Sweeney and Senate Majority Leader Loretta Weinberg today visited the Bright Side Manor, a senior assisted living facility in Teaneck, New Jersey. The facility is an affordable, non-profit home which ensures access to senior-centered services, irrespective of an individual’s financial situation.

“New Jersey has a poor track record with nursing homes and assisted living facilities and our state’s property tax crisis has made living on a fixed income increasingly hard to do,” said Senator Sweeney (D-Gloucester/Salem/Cumberland). “Bright Side Manor provides an irreplaceable level of support for the people it serves as well as the concerned loved ones seeking confidence in its care. This place is a model for comprehensive personal care homes across the state, and I hope the Legislature can help them make improvements and expand in the future.”

The Bright Side Manor works to develop sustainable strategies to address the rapidly changing needs of older adults and promote their health and well-being, regardless of their financial situation. Its mission is to provide affordable housing and support services, as well as to promote dignity and ensure safety and comfort.

“For decades, the folks at Bright Side Manor have worked to take care of our oldest citizens regardless of what their financial situation may be,” said Senator Weinberg (D-Bergen). “These are the people who traditionally fall through the cracks because they earn a bit too much for Medicaid, but cannot afford private nursing homes or assisted living programs. Helping facilities like this expand their operations so they can provide more people with assisted living and increase the services they offer will allow for more senior citizens to receive the care they so desperately need.”

A non-profit, 501(c)3 organization, Bright Side Manor is a Comprehensive Personal Care Home (CPCH) established in 1990. It provides affordable housing and support services to older adults of all income levels in a charming, converted Victorian home on Teaneck Road in Teaneck.
