TERRY-WILSON PETITIONS CERTIFIED BY CLERK, WILL APPEAR ON BALLOT FOR COUNCIL AT-LARGE

Community Leader Campaigning on “Fix Trenton” Message

(TRENTON, NJ) – Taiwanda “Tai” Terry-Wilson announced today that her petitions for council at-large have been certified by the municipal clerk, making her eligible to appear on the November ballot.

“When I ran last time, I was talking about repairing roads, improving test scores, and creating new jobs, and all of that’s important, don’t get me wrong.” said Taiwanda “Tai” Terry-Wilson, who ran for an East Ward Council Seat in 2018, losing by five votes. “But this time, we’ve got a much larger task: to fix a broken city.”

“Trenton is broken because our city council is broken,” said Terry-Wilson. “We can fix Trenton by bringing change to the city council. It’s why I’m running, and it’s what I’m running on.”

“Closing the academic achievement gap, luring new businesses to Trenton, and changing how we police our city are all vitally important issues and they must be addressed,” said Terry-Wilson. “However, none of that will matter unless we have a new council with new council leadership.”

Trenton’s City Council has been overtaken by infighting, name calling, instability and gridlock. To date, the city council has yet to approve a municipal budget, placing the city’s finances in jeopardy.

“When your goal at a Tuesday night council meeting is to be on the cover of the Trentonian on Wednesday, that’s when you know things are broken,” said Terry-Wilson. “Our city is at a crossroads and we badly need new leadership that’s going to put the interests of our residents at the top of the agenda. That’s my commitment.”

Terry-Wilson was born and raised in Trenton, graduating from Trenton Central High School and attended Mercer County Community College. A committed community leader, she has served for decades on local parent teacher organizations.  Terry-Wilson previously served on the city zoning board and currently serves on the Mercer County Planning Board.

Terry-Wilson is the proud mother of three children; she also has one grandchild.
