TPS Partners with S.E.E.D. (Servants Endeavoring to Empower and Develop) to launch Food Security Campaign to Increase SNAP and School Meal Enrollment

Trenton, NJ – February 2026 – Trenton Public Schools (TPS) is proud to announce a partnership with the S.E.E.D. (Servants Endeavoring to Empower and Develop) Program to implement strategies aimed at increasing enrollment in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and school meal programs. This initiative is part of the Food Security Impact Project, funded by the New Jersey Office of the Food Security Advocate and administered through Rutgers, The State University, Family & Community Health Sciences.
Through monthly parent focus groups led by the S.E.E.D. Program in collaboration with TPS’s Family & Community Engagement Department, families provided creative and culturally relevant input to shape the district’s outreach efforts. Their recommendations directly influenced campaign messaging and resulted in the development of five billboards that will be strategically placed throughout the City of Trenton. Additional outreach materials will also be distributed across district schools.
“Food security is directly connected to student success,” said Superintendent James Earle. “When families have access to reliable nutrition resources, students are better prepared to learn, grow, and thrive. This partnership ensures our families understand what support is available and how to access it.”
“It’s been inspiring to collaborate with parents on billboard designs, concepts, and slogans, with the creative support of our graphic designer, Sabrina McCall,” said Stacy Heading, Program Director of the S.E.E.D. Program.
“This partnership is critical to promoting food security in our community,” said Denise Kreiss, Parent Coordinator and Homeless Liaison. “By increasing awareness and providing enrollment support, we are helping reduce food insecurity and ensuring that every child has access to nutritious meals.”
Through this food security campaign, TPS aims to expand family access to nutrition resources and strengthen community awareness of available benefits.
