Trenton Water Works Public Meeting
Set for March 27^th at the Hamilton Township Senior Center 

Hamilton residents will have another opportunity to get first-hand updates on Trenton Water Works (TWW), its service line replacement program and the utilities’ ongoing efforts in March.

The TWW public meeting will take place on Wednesday, March 27, 2019, at the Hamilton Township Senior Center (located at 409 Cypress Lane, Hamilton, NJ 08619) from 6 PM – 8 PM.

TWW officials plan to hold a question and answer session to address issues such as lead in drinking water, corrosion-control efforts and the lead service line replacement program, as well as offer residents access to GIS mapping to help determine if their property has a lead service line and an opportunity to register to receive alerts from TWW’s Water Quality Information System.  Officials will also hold similar meetings in the other towns that TWW serves.

Just recently, Hamilton Mayor Kelly Yaede made a request to TWW Director, Dr. Shing-Fu Hsueh, to ask that the upcoming meeting begin with a presentation from utility officials in order to provide residents with status updates on recent water violations and how TWW plans to correct each issue, detected lead levels, outstanding action items from the utility’s Administrative Consent Order with the NJ Department of Environmental Protection and an update on the rehabilitation of TWW’s chlorine contact basins (which intends to decrease disinfectant byproducts that have led to several violation notices).

In September of last year, TWW held an initial public meeting in Hamilton (also at the Senior Center), which at the time was replicated in the other towns that the utility serves. During the latter days of former Trenton Mayor Eric Jackson’s tenure, Mayor Yaede repeatedly called for Trenton officials to hold such a meeting in Hamilton for residents’ convenience.  Shortly after taking office, current Trenton Mayor Reed Gusciora agreed to hold the first public meeting.

“I urge residents who receive their drinking water Trenton Water Works to attend this meeting so they can get the information that they need, and answers to their questions, which they deserve,” says Mayor Kelly Yaede, who underscored the importance when considering that violation notices that are scheduled to be mailed to all TWW customers over the coming weeks.
