Tucker on West Point Cadet Christopher Morgan’s Death

(TRENTON) – Assemblywoman Cleopatra Tucker (D-Essex), chair, Assembly Military & Veterans’ Affairs Committee, issued the following statement Tuesday regarding the death of West Point Cadet Christopher “CJ” Morgan, 22, of West Orange. He died in a military training exercise accident on June 6:

“I extend my heartfelt condolences to the Morgan family on the loss of their precious son, CJ.  I am certain that their anguish is indescribable, and that they will need the love and support of family and friends at this difficult time. Our entire community, actually, must rally behind them.

“Although CJ was just beginning to live, he was already making his mark in the world and was just one year away from being commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Army. A gifted wrestler, his legacy also will remain among his team members and fellow cadets.

“While CJ’s death is heartbreaking, it is my hope that his family will take comfort in knowing that he was a beloved member of our community who was admired and will be greatly missed.”
