UCDC ACTING CHAIR MAHR ANNOUNCES DATE

FOR COUNTY COMMITTEE MEETING TO VOTE ON PERMANENT CHAIR

FANWOOD- Union County Democratic Committee Acting Chairwoman Colleen Mahr today announced that February 21 will be the date of the meeting to vote on the UCDC’s next permanent Chair.  The date was voted on at a meeting last night with municipal chairs and UCDC officers per the organization by-laws to determine the date of the full Committee meeting.  During the February 21st meeting, which will begin at 7:00 PM and take place at the Grand Centurion in Clark, committee members will also be voting on the next Vice-Chair.

“February 21^st will help ensure that committee members from throughout Union County have the opportunity to come and cast their vote for the next Chair and Vice-Chair of our County Democratic Committee,” said Mahr.  “Based on the feedback Mayor Armstead and I have gotten since we announced our candidacies, it is very clear that committee members recognize the tremendous importance of voting to set the direction for our organization moving forward.  I’m looking forward to speaking with even more of our committee members over the next three weeks in advance of the vote to explain our vision for the Party’s future.  I am also uniquely committed to making sure our meeting on the 21^st provides people with the opportunity to vote in a respectful, transparent environment that protects the integrity of each of our committee member’s votes.”

Mahr, who serves as Mayor of Fanwood, previously announced her candidacy for the Chair position and will be running with Linden Mayor Derek Armstead, who announced his candidacy for the position of UCDC Vice-Chair.  Mahr served as the elected Vice-Chair and running mate of Chairman Jerry Green for the past five years, up until Chairman Green’s retirement from the position for health reasons last week.
