Union County Mailing Hits Column A Pay Hikes & Corporate Welfare

Democratic Primary voters got a wake up call with information about the Column A candidates’ support for politician pay hikes, gas tax increases and corporate welfare in a mailing distributed in LD22.

Carlos Rivas and Mark Lighten are leading the Column C slate against Assembly incumbents Jim Kennedy and Linda Carter. Since lawmakers typically have weak name recognition, there is a strong chance the mailing will have a sharp impact.

Plus, the facts are all true and voter disappointment is palpable in the area. Samples of the mailing are available online at:

Along with Rivas and Lighten, the Column C Democrats United for Progress ticket includes progressive champion Lisa McCormick, a Rahway resident who is running for surrogate, and freeholder candidates Wilma Campbell of Plainfield, Alex Lospinoso of Linden, and Sylvia Turnage of Roselle.

Among those backing the Column C candidates are Linden Mayor Derek Armstead and Rev, Tracey Brown, a former Plainfield councilwoman and the mayoral contender who nearly upset incumbent Adrian Mapp in the 2017 primary election.
