Union County Students will hold March of Our Lives Event on March 24th

On March 24th at 10 am, students throughout Union County will hold a sibling March of Our Lives event to demand that their lives and safety become a priority and that gun violence in schools and their communities end.

The march will start at Burnet Middle School (1000 Caldwell Avenue, Union) and will end at the Union Township City Hall (1976 Morris Avenue, Union).   This is an open event that will take place in solidarity with the over 800 marches occurring across the country, standing up in honor of  the students who lost their lives at the hands of gun violence inside places of education.

Students have drawn support from federal, state and local elected officials in Union County.  Together with the assistance of State Senator Joseph Cryan and the local chapter of the Moms Demand Action – Union County, the students from Union County will be led by the steering committee chair, Colin Sumner of Westfield to rally at town hall speaking out against gun violence in schools.

The goal of the march is not to restrict an individual’s right to own guns but to take action toward ending gun violence. Students have been the catalysts for change in this country. Today, we want congress to make us all safer, countering all forms of gun violence and being open to the nation-wide student led dialogue.

On the 24th, let’s March to make that dream a reality. Hand in hand we will stand, together, and united.
