Vainieri Huttle on NJCASA Survey on Sexual Harassment and Misogyny in NJ Politics

(TRENTON) – Assemblywoman Valerie Vainieri Huttle (D-Bergen) released the following statement on the New Jersey Coalition Against Sexual Assault’s survey of sexual harassment and misogyny in New Jersey politics:

          “NJCASA’s survey findings, driven by the stories of our friends and colleagues, must serve as the driving force for change. The culture of New Jersey politics needs a complete overhaul. In addition to these daunting statistics about the rate of harassment and sexism in our industry, the report also sheds light on the need for structural support and resources at all levels of government. We must create systems that are survivor-focused, ones that strive for accountability and justice. We need systems where survivors feel safe to report their experiences, not one where they are forced to hide in the shadows for fear of retaliation. We’ve been calling out for reform for far too long, there’s much work to do – time’s up.”
