Van Drew Condemns Conditions in the Detention Centers at Southern Border

Van Drew

(Washington, D.C.) – Congressman Jeff Van Drew released the following statement regarding the living conditions in the child detention centers at the southern border:

“Our Country is a beacon of hope for the world. However, we need to do better at our southern border. Currently children being held in these detention centers are met with unsanitary and unsafe conditions. Our America doesn’t treat anyone in the way and it never should. Secure, safe borders with physical barriers, proper technology, manpower, and a sufficient number of judges is attainable and important to the security of our nation. We must also treat these children at the border with compassion and decency.

We can fix this border problem with better security, but we must also absolutely treat these children with humanity, empathy, and care.”
