For Immediate Release: March 12, 2026

Somerville, NJ – The Somerset County Democratic Veterans Caucus today proudly announces its endorsement of Shanel Robinson for the 12th District House seat for New Jersey. Somerset County Commissioner Director Robinson is an Air Force veteran who served as an Avionics Specialist and Flight Leader, and credits her time in the military with instilling a deep commitment to public service, integrity, and discipline.

“The Veterans Caucus is proud to endorse fellow veteran Shanel Robinson for New Jersey’s 12th District House seat because we know she will bring the same commitment to veterans she has shown as Somerset County Commissioner Director to Washington, DC,” said Marco Laguna, Army veteran and chair of the Somerset County Democratic Veterans Caucus. “We look forward to working hard for Director Robinson’s election in November, and partnering with her as our Representative to ensure America’s veterans are given the respect, honor, and benefits they earned in service to their nation.”

“I am honored to receive the endorsement of my fellow veterans because I know we share the same values and commitment to service,” said Commissioner Director Robinson. “As a member of a multi-generational family of veterans and a veteran myself, I have seen the struggle too many of my fellow service members have to go through and I am committed to fighting for them as a member of the United States House of Representatives.”

As Somerset County Commissioner Director, Robinson has expanded the Veterans Services Department that has recovered millions in earned benefits for local vets, implemented regular veterans employment and resource fairs, installed veterans parking spaces at county facilities and parks, and worked to make housing affordable for veterans.

Director Robinson has also been a partner to the Lyons Veterans Administration Medical Center in Basking Ridge, NJ, including funding a community garden for resident veterans, providing transportation for local veterans to receive services, and most recently adding a shuttle from the Lyons Train Station to ensure vets from throughout the region can travel by train to get medical support related to their service.
