A VICTORY FOR THE RESIDENTS OF THE CITY OF TRENTON

TRENTON, N.J. – Mayor Gusciora applauds Judge Jacobson for compelling the Council to pass the City of Trenton’s budget. With a 6-0 vote, the Council adopted an 11 cent increase as directed by the Department of Community Affairs Local Government Affairs Division.

“It is a great relief and a victory for the residents of Trenton that the Council has approved the DCA mandated budget,” said Mayor Reed Gusciora. “My administration can now begin the process of working on the 2020 budget. I urge Council President McBride to not appeal the Judge’s decision, which will continue this distraction from the real fiscal problems this city faces. With this budget passing, I hope to see the Capital City Line Item moved in the Assembly and ultimately signed by the Governor, giving the City of Trenton the future opportunity to someday remove our dependence on DCA transitional aid and the MOU that comes with it.”

“We have big plans for improvement in the City,” he said, “including the completion of Hetzel Pool, renovations of recreation centers, revitalization of our roads, and other quality of life investments.”
