Vitale, Coughlin and Lopez on Diaper Awareness Week
(TRENTON) – In recognition of Diaper Awareness Week in New Jersey, Senator Joe Vitale, Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin and Assemblywoman Yvonne Lopez (all D-Middlesex) released the following joint statement on the overwhelming need for diapers among New Jersey families:
“Every parent knows the enormous cost of diapers all too well. Diapers can account for up to six percent of a full-time minimum wage worker’s salary, and there is no government program to assist parents in buying them, leaving some wondering where to turn. No parent should have to worry about having enough diapers for their baby.
“We’d like to thank all who have worked to raise awareness for the need for diapers during Diaper Awareness Week, and the companies which have made donations to nonprofits working to address this issue, including the Community Food Bank of New Jersey. Clean diapers are essential to ensure a baby’s health and happiness. Spreading awareness for this important issue will impact thousands of families in our state and across the nation.”
Diaper Awareness Week is observed annually from September 23 to October 1 in New Jersey.
