Vitale Statement on Leadership Change at University Hospital

TRENTON – Senator Joe Vitale, the chairman of the Senate Health, Human Services and Senior Citizens Committee, issued the following statement on the change of leadership at University Hospital:

“I want to thank Mr. Kastanis for his service to the hospital and the community it serves. I look forward to a new leader who will insist on quality and excellence while advancing a vision for one of our states’ most important teaching hospitals and trauma centers.

“Changes need to be made to improve operations at University Hospital so that it is better able to provide the best care possible and serve the health care needs of the community.

“Effective leadership is one of the essential ingredients in achieving and maintaining high quality care. It is important that top leaders set the highest standards and maintain them throughout the hospital. A standard of excellence is required in the operations of all of New Jersey’s hospitals.”
