WATSON COLEMAN: WE HAVE A LOT MORE TO GET DONE

EWING – “We have a lot more to get done,” said Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman after filing her petitions for re-election to serve as the representative for the 12th Congressional District.  The Congresswoman represents Mercer, Middlesex, Somerset and Union Counties and has received the backing of their Democratic organizations in her Primary campaign.  Primary Election Day is June 5th.

Rep. Watson Coleman cited the ongoing battle to end the crippling gun violence that has continued to plague the nation and the need to make sure every child has the opportunity to receive a high-quality education as just two of the reasons she is seeking another term.

“I believe every person should have access to affordable health care, every child should have the right to a great public education and we should all be free of gun violence,” said Watson Coleman.  “We’ve fought hard, but we have a lot more to get done.  Now, more than ever, we need to make sure we stay strong on the frontlines and don’t allow the current Administration’s hateful rhetoric and debilitating policies to further divide our country.  Together we are stronger and I look forward to working even harder over these next weeks to make sure we take the first step in earning another term so that we may continue the fight.”

Rep. Watson Coleman was first elected to represent the 12th Congressional District in 2014 and is the first Black woman to ever represent New Jersey in Congress.  She has been a strong, progressive voice in the fight to secure pay equity and a high-quality public education for all.  The Congresswoman has also proudly led the charge for common sense gun safety legislation and immigration policies that support people seeking freedom and security.
