Weinberg Receives Honorary Degree from Ramapo College
Trenton – Senate Majority Leader Loretta Weinberg received an honorary degree from Ramapo College. She was also the keynote at the 2019 Graduate Program Commencement Ceremony.
“I want to thank Ramapo College for this honor as well as the opportunity to speak to the graduating students. Ramapo College has served the people of our state for more than 50 years.
“The college has been an educational staple for our state since it was established and it has since become a major resource to all of New Jersey. Ramapo, like other public institutions, does much more than just educate. It provides the invaluable service to bring people together, from all walks of life, from different cultures and backgrounds with different views and ideas, to learn from each other. In today’s world, this is service that cannot be overstated.
“A fairer and more inclusive society is aided, in large part by institutions like Ramapo because this is where we really get to know and understand one another. It’s an honor to receive this degree, and I thank the college for the invitation to speak at the graduate student ceremony. Good luck to all the graduates, it’s going to be up to all of you to keep us moving forward.”
Ramapo College’s Graduate Class of 2019 is composed of 246 students, representing seven graduate programs, 5 veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces and 1 Ramapo College employee.
Past Ramapo College Graduate Program Commencement speakers include Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor and U.S. Senator Cory Booker.
