Weinberg, Singer Resolution Designating ‘New Jersey Economic Development Day’ Advances
Trenton – A joint resolution sponsored by Senate Majority Leader Loretta Weinberg and Senator Robert Singer that would designate the second Monday of May each year as “New Jersey Economic Development Day” in New Jersey was passed out of the Senate Economic Growth Committee today.
“New Jersey has a vibrant business community, but we cannot take it for granted,” said Senator Weinberg (D-Bergen). “By declaring one day a year ‘New Jersey Economic Development Day,’ we promote and support the growth of business opportunities in all our communities, particularly in ones where not enough private and public investment has occurred.”
The joint resolution, SJR-72, asks the governor to issue a proclamation calling upon public officials, business leaders and residents of New Jersey to observe “New Jersey Economic Development Day” by organizing and attending events, including job and business fairs, business networking events and government-assistance program promotion events to discuss job creation, economic resiliency and how to optimize and streamline economic development programs to empower communities and continue to foster economic growth in New Jersey.
The joint resolution passed out of committee by a vote of 5-0, and moves to the full Senate for further consideration.
