WORLD DOG EXPO AND AMERICAN KENNEL CLUB HOLD MEDIA PREVIEW OF FIRST EVER “SAFE SALON” WORKSHOP IN RESPONSE TO RECENT “BIJOU’S LAW” LEGISLATION BEING CONSIDERED FOR NEW JERSEY
“SAFE SALON” WORKSHOP TO EDUCATE DOG OWNERS ABOUT WHAT TO LOOK FOR WHEN CHOOSING A DOG GROOMER.
WHO: Joey Villani (dog grooming personality and World Dog Expo co-creator), Susan Sholar (professional dog groomer and Salon Safety Certification consultant); dogs!
WHAT: As a result of a number of dogs having died while receiving grooming treatments at various salons, New Jersey is considering the approval of a bill known as “Bijou’s Law.” This bill, which is likely to be passed, would make New Jersey the first state to require that all pet groomers are licensed.
In response to those recent events and the pending legislation, World Dog Expo – taking place this weekend – is partnering with American Kennel Club for their first ever “Safe Salon” workshop in order to educate pet owners on what they should be looking for to ensure they are choosing a competent and safe groomer. The “Safe Salon” will feature a setup with various stations which adhere to all proposed safety standards and procedures.
The World Dog Expo is the world’s largest interactive dog event, offering a huge marketplace for all the latest products, the largest display of dog sports and demos of any expo, and a full lineup of educational workshops and seminars to strengthen the bond and promote pet safety between dogs and their owners. The event runs Saturday, June 1 (10am – 6pm) and Sunday, June 2 (10AM – 5pm). Further info is available at www.WorldDogExpo.dog.
