A “Write-In”challenger emerges for Sussex County Freeholder
Kristy Lavin is running as a write-in candidate for Sussex County Freeholder.
Born and raised in Sussex County, Kristy Lavin has worked her whole life helping people in the community. After years of constant tax increases, the escalation of the opioid crisis and the loss of a moderate voice in county government, she felt compelled to focus her passion for improving the lives of others to extend to all Sussex County residents.
Kristy Lavin resides in Hardyston with her husband and children. She works in private practice as a Child and Family Psychotherapist in Sussex County. As a business owner, taxpayer, and mother she is looking to finally be a voice that represents the concerns that all Sussex County residents share.
“I have seen first hand that the hard working residents of Sussex County continue to question when things are going to change. I believe a moderate voice is necessary to redirect funds in a way that better serves the people of our county. “
Kristy Lavin received her Masters degree from Rutgers University in Social Work. After graduating Kristy became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She has worked for non-profit organizations that serve children and families in Sussex County for over 10 years including the Center for Prevention and Counseling and New Bridge Child and Family Services. Additionally, she has served on the Board of Directors of Family Support Organization and on multiple Director Boards and on the leadership identification team for the National Association of Social Workers-NJ (NASW-NJ).
“My passion to help families make meaningful and sustainable changes in their lives has inspired me to help others on a larger scale by becoming Freeholder. That is why this call to action is so important to me. A vote for me is a vote for representing your families’ concerns, fiscal responsibility and government accountability.”
Rutgers University Professor of Professional Practice & Executive in Residence, William Waldman, endorsed Write-in Freeholder candidate Kristy Lavin, “As a former NJ Commissioner of Human Services for three New Jersey Governors I learned how to identify leadership talent and sound values and integrity in public servants.” He continued, “Kristy has those competencies and values and I endorse her without reservation.”
Write-In Candidate Kristy Lavin’s Official Canvas Kickoff is this Saturday and Sunday in Newton and Stanhope. Kristy Lavin and her team look forward to speaking to constituents about their needs to learn more about how to improve Sussex County for when she is a Freeholder.
