Zwicker to Host Event for Seniors to Educate on Fraud Protection and Financial Assistance Programs
(TRENTON) – Assemblyman Andrew Zwicker (D-Somerset, Mercer, Middlesex, Hunterdon), in partnership with the Division of Consumer Affairs (DCA) and Department of Human Services (DHS), will be hosting an event on Monday Jan. 6, 2020 in Montgomery Township to educate senior citizens on avoiding fraud and on accessing the state’s financial assistance programs.
The event, open to seniors and their advocates, will feature presentations by representatives from the DCA and the DHS on topics of senior fraud prevention and NJSave, a consolidated application for assistance programs aimed to help eligible residents save money on medical and living expenses.
“Fraud schemes targeting senior citizens are increasingly sophisticated and continually evolving,” said Assemblyman Zwicker. “We’ll be arming seniors with the necessary knowledge to detect, avoid and report fraud as well as provide information on cost-saving State aid programs that help those living on a fixed income.”
The event will take place Monday January 6, 2020 at 11:00 AM at the Otto Kaufman Community Center located in Montgomery at 356 Skillman Road, Skillman, NJ 08558.
