Ali Aljarrah Submits Over Two Times Required Number of Petition Signatures to Secure Ballot Access for Passaic County Commissioner
Aljarrah submitted 725 signatures, with the slogan “Working Families Democrat” on the ballot.
Passaic County, New Jersey — Today, Ali Aljarrah, Democratic candidate for Passaic County Commissioner, officially submitted over 700 petition signatures to the Passaic County Board of Elections—far exceeding the required threshold of 300 signatures to qualify for the ballot in the upcoming June 2nd primary election.
The campaign collected signatures from residents across every municipality in Passaic County, demonstrating broad grassroots support and early momentum in the race.
“This campaign is powered by the people of our county,” said Ali Aljarrah, Democratic Candidate for Passaic County Commissioner. “Submitting more than 700 signatures is a powerful testament to our work so far as a campaign: reaching voters where they are and reimagining what county government can look like. Voters are ready for leadership that fights for working families, lowers costs, and delivers real results.”
In February, the campaign chose not to seek party backing after requesting Mr. Aljarrah sign a pledge to drop out if he wasn’t the anointed PCDC candidate. The campaign submitted more than double the required number of signatures, underscoring strong enthusiasm and organizational strength just weeks after announcing his candidacy on January 23rd.
“This milestone reflects the energy we’re seeing on the ground,” said Antoinette Miles, State Director for New Jersey Working Families Party. “People are excited about Ali’s vision and are ready to join a campaign that puts working people first. After big wins in state and congressional primaries, the NJ Working Families Party is ready to reach every community and build a political home for working people in Passaic County.”
Last week, Aljarrah was formally endorsed by the New Jersey Working Families Party.
With ballot access secured, the campaign will now focus on expanding voter outreach, building its coalition, and communicating Ali’s vision for lowering food insecurity, cleaner air and waterways throughout the county—which has a historic number of polluted superfund sites, and tackling the cost of housing and utilities.
