Analilia Mejia Statement on Trump’s State of the Union
Glen Ridge, NJ – Analilia Mejia, the Democratic Nominee for NJ-11, released the following statement after Trump’s State of the Union:
“Donald Trump stood in front of the country and described a reality that doesn’t exist. His State of the Union was lie after lie after lie. He wants us to believe that the economy is roaring, our country is thriving, and our healthcare system is stronger than ever. But here in New Jersey, people are losing their jobs, tariffs are driving up the cost of everything, and families are losing their health insurance. All while masked ICE agents snatch up our neighbors and terrorize kids on their way to school.
“More than 350,000 people in New Jersey will lose their health care because Donald Trump cut Medicaid to pay for corporate tax breaks and mass deportations. More than 400,000 New Jerseyans will lose access to their food assistance. Now he wants to cut taxes for corporations again, even though companies like Tesla and Palantir already pay zero dollars in federal taxes.
“That’s the reality of our union. My opponent has been quiet about all of this, so I want straight answers. Does he support cutting taxes for billionaires and the biggest corporations in the world? Does he support the tariffs that make it harder for families to make ends meet? Does he support cutting Medicaid and taking coverage away from tens of thousands of families in our district? Does he support slashing food assistance from children living in poverty? Does he have anything to say about ICE terrorizing our communities?
“Donald Trump described a golden age that we all know is a lie. I want to know if my opponent believes him.”
