Assemblyman-Elect Stewart Names Kader as Chief of Staff, Garner as Director of Constituent Relations
PATERSON, NJ - Today, Assemblyman-Elect Kenyatta Stewart announced the appointments of two members of his Assembly staff.
Habib Kader will assume the role of Chief of Staff. A native of Paterson, Habib brings extensive experience across state, municipal, and federal government, most recently serving as Deputy Chief of Staff to Assemblyman Al Abdelaziz. He previously served as Chief of Staff for the Mayor of Paterson and worked with Senator Cory Booker in Washington, DC. Habib earned his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Wisconsin and holds a Master of Public Health from Emory University.

"Habib's deep knowledge of government and commitment to our residents will be invaluable as we work to deliver results for the 35th District. I am confident his experience and dedication to public service will strengthen our office and better serve our community"
Shannon Garner will assume the role of Director of Constituent Relations. A longtime North Jersey resident, Shannon brings decades of experience in community engagement, court administration, and public service, including roles as a court clerk in East Orange Municipal Court, youth counselor in Paterson and New York City, and customer service representative with the Newark Housing Authority.
Having previously worked with former Paterson Board of Education Commissioner Al Moody, Shannon has built a career centered on advocacy, problem-solving, and connecting residents with critical services. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Elizabeth City State University.
"Shannon brings a wealth of experience and a genuine connection to our community," said Assemblyman-Elect Stewart. "His work on the ground and commitment to listening to residents will ensure our office remains accessible, responsive, and in touch with the people we represent. I'm confident that in his role, we will strengthen the bonds between our office and every neighborhood in our district."
Assemblyman-Elect Stewart will be sworn in on January 13, 2026. His office will have more team slots to fill, which will be filled by talented individuals from across the 35" District. This will ensure his office reflects the diversity and voices of every community he serves.
