Assemblyman Joe Danielsen Announces That Immigration Bills Will Be Heard In Committee On Thursday

Somerset, NJ - On Thursday, the Assembly Public Safety & Preparedness Committee, of which I am Chairman, will hear the two immigration bills that were pocket vetoed last month. The “Privacy Protection Act” and the bill to codify the Immigrant Trust Directive are the final two legs of the bill package we began work on last session. On Thursday, we will take the first steps to get them to Governor Sherrill, who has indicated she is open to signing them.
As I have said consistently over the past few months, the Legislature must take a leading role in fighting for our immigrant communities against this immoral war being waged by the Federal Government. Since we last discussed this topic, ICE has snatched children off the street, brutalized defenseless people, and murdered Renee Good and Alex Pretti in the street. Action to defend our State against the lawless organization perpetrating this brutality is long overdue.
I will always stand with our communities against any threats to their safety, even from our own Government.
