Booker in New Video Marks 5th Anniversary of Jan. 6, Condemns Trump’s Corrupt Use of Presidential Pardons

| On the fifth anniversary of the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol, U.S. Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) released a new video this morning reflecting on the violence of that day and sharply criticizing President Donald Trump’s use of the presidential pardon power. Booker highlights the case of Brian Sicknick, a Capitol police officer from New Jersey, who was beaten while defending the Capitol and died days later.
“It’s January 6, the fifth year anniversary of the horrific attack on this Capitol. Many of them savagely beating police officers, attacking them with bear spray. Many of them pled guilty to their vicious crimes, and yet President Donald Trump gave a blanket pardon to every single one of them. But now a pattern and practice of corruption from the President of the United States. He has abused his pardoning power in a way that we have never before seen… “Brian Sicknick from New Jersey was a Capitol police officer on that day, was so viciously beaten, and would later, just days later, die. The people that beat him have been pardoned by this president. That is not law and order. That is injustice.” WATCH HERE###
