Brian Varela (NJ-07) Announces Several National Endorsements

Peace Action PAC, Freethought Equality PAC and Oath of Office have all endorsed Varela, while Teachers Unify to End Gun Violence Action named him an Honor Roll candidate.

Morris County, NJ (February 20, 2026) Today, Brian Varela’s campaign for Congress announced the endorsements of Peace Action PAC and Center for Freethought Equality PAC, marking significant new national support behind his bid in New Jersey’s 7th Congressional District. The endorsements build on the campaign’s growing national momentum following support from Latino Victory Fund.

Peace Action is the nation’s largest grassroots peace and disarmament organization, advocating for diplomacy-first foreign policy, nuclear nonproliferation, and shifting national priorities toward investments that strengthen families and communities.

“Raised by Colombian immigrant parents in New Jersey, Brian Varela has seen working families like his get left further and further behind as greedy corporations take more and more,” said Lilly Dragnev, National Engagement and Campaigns Director of Peace Action.  “Congress is considering a $1.5 trillion Pentagon budget right now. Meanwhile, programs that help struggling families are being gutted. This system needs to change, and Brian knows that those in power need to start putting people first, not special interests. Investment in diplomacy, housing, healthcare, education, and climate resilience will keep us much safer than investment in CEO bonuses. We are honored to work alongside Brian in promoting peace and justice at home and abroad.”

Center for Freethought Equality PAC works to elect candidates who support evidence-based policymaking, defend the separation of church and state, and protect civil rights and civil liberties for all Americans.

“The Center for Freethought Equality PAC is very pleased to endorse Brian Varela for Congress,” said Ron Millar, CFE Political and PAC Manager. “His advocacy for evidence-based public policy, bodily autonomy, the separation of church and state, civil rights and civil liberties, and protecting our democracy and voting rights are crucial for all Americans.”

These endorsements further expand Varela’s broad and diverse coalition of reformers, advocates, and community leaders. He has also earned the backing of Oath of Office and recognition on the Teachers Unify to End Gun Violence Action Honor Roll for his commitment to commonsense gun safety. With more than 80 endorsements to date and $1.4 million cash on hand, Varela leads the race in both total support and fundraising strength.

“I am honored to have the support of Peace Action and the Center for Freethought Equality PAC,” said Varela. “This campaign is building a national coalition of leaders and organizations who believe our government should put people first, defend fundamental freedoms, and strengthen our democracy. From Latino Victory Fund to today’s endorsements, we are proving that our message is resonating far beyond NJ-07. Together, we are building the broad support needed to win this race and deliver real change for working families.”
