Chair of Congressional Hispanic Caucus endorses Mejia in special primary election
GLEN RIDGE, NJ — Congressman Adriano Espaillat (NY-13), Chair of Congressional Hispanic Caucus, endorses Analilia Mejia for Congress in New Jersey’s 11th District Special Election ahead of the February 5th Democratic primary.
Analilia Mejia said, “I’m humbled to have the support of Congressman Adriano Espaillat, a champion for everyday people and a leader in the Hispanic community. Congressman Espaillat has dedicated his life to public service, uplifting the less fortunate and standing as a fierce defender of immigrant communities, especially recently as ICE continues to terrorize them. Every elected official should be focused on fighting for people, not special interests. We need leaders who won’t back down from a fight, who will stand up for all our communities and always fight for working people. Alongside Congressman Espaillat, I’m ready to do exactly that on day one.
Congressman Adriano Espaillat said, “Analilia Mejia is running for Congress for the right reason: to put everyday people back at the center of our politics. She listens, she leads with courage, and she understands what working families are up against because she’s been in the fight with them for decades. New Jersey’s 11th District should send Analilia Mejia to Washington because she will always stand up for every community.
Analilia Mejia also has the endorsements of Senator Bernie Sanders, Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Congressman Greg Casar, Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal, Congressman Jesús “Chuy” García, Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley, Congressman Maxwell Frost, Congresswoman Delia Ramirez, Congressman Ro Khanna, Newark Mayor Ras Baraka, former New Jersey Senate Majority Leader Loretta Weinberg, the Progressive Caucus PAC, the Latino Victory Fund, the Working Families Party, Communications Workers of America District 1, Communications Workers of America Local 1037, Rutgers AAUP–AFT, the Rutgers Adjunct Faculty Union, SEIU 32BJ, 1199SEIU, the SEIU New Jersey State Council, and more.
