Congresswoman Pou Announces Experienced Senior District Leadership

PATERSON, NJ – Congresswoman Nellie Pou (D-NJ-09) today announced her new senior district staff team.

“I am pleased to announce two important appointments to our district leadership team,” said Congresswoman Pou. “Ian Godfrey will join our office as District Director, bringing deep experience from his service as chief of staff to the Passaic City Mayor and as District Director for my predecessor, Congressman Pascrell. I am also proud to promote Helen Torres to Deputy District Director. Helen has been a trusted advisor to me for nearly two decades and she was integral to building our district operation from the ground up. Together, Ian and Helen will serve as excellent liaisons to our local communities, ensure strong coordination with our Washington team, and maintain the high standard of constituent service our residents expect and deserve.”

Ian Godfrey, District Director – Ian comes directly from the office of Passaic City Mayor Hector Lora, where he served as chief of staff. Prior to that, he was on staff to the late Congressman Bill Pascrell, Jr., beginning as an intern, before rising to Caseworker, Outreach Coordinator, and eventually District Director. Ian earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from Ramapo College. He is a resident of Elmwood Park.

Helen Torres, Deputy District Director – Helen worked as Senior Legislative Aide and Scheduler for nearly 18 years for Congresswoman Pou in the New Jersey State Senate and Assembly. Helen earned a bachelor’s degree in business management from Berkeley College in Woodland Park, New Jersey. She is a native of Paterson and a Clifton resident.

Congresswoman Nellie Pou’s main district office is located in downtown Paterson. She also has two satellite offices, one in Lyndhurst and one in Passaic City.
