Dixon Drops out, Backs Hamawy

Today, Elijah Dixon ended his campaign and endorsed Dr. Adam Hamawy in the race for New Jersey’s 12th Congressional District seat.

Dixon and Dr. Hamawy appeared at a joint event at Dixon’s Trenton campaign headquarters Monday evening to make the announcement.

“[Adam Hamawy] has consistently spoken up in the name of those whose voices have been marginalized and suppressed,” said Dixon, former NJ-12 candidate. “A medical professional, a doctor, who has volunteered his time in places like Sudan and Gaza... I have made the decision to end my candidacy and shift the full weight of our organizing efforts towards Adam’s campaign... to win this seat for the people.”

“Throughout this race, Elijah Dixon has been a moral voice on the issues of our time,” said Hamawy. “He is making a selfless decision to end his campaign and work together to ensure we have strong, progressive, and unbought representation in NJ-12. I am honored to have earned his trust and support.”

Last week, the Hamawy campaign announced endorsements from Progressive Victory, Common Defense, and Climate Revolution Action Network (CRAN). Dr. Hamawy also announced a recent endorsement from Justice Democrats, released the largest fundraising totals of any candidate in the race, and submitted 50% more petitions to qualify for the ballot than his next closest opponent.

Hamawy has also earned endorsements from Sen. Tammy Duckworth, former Congressman Jamaal Bowman, A New Policy, Veterans for Responsible Leadership, Our Revolution, PAL PAC, CAIR Action, CAIR Action New Jersey, Organize for Peace, Beyond the Ballot, Track AIPAC, Americans for Justice in Palestine Action, and New Jersey Muslim Civic Coalition Activate, and more.
