Essex-West Hudson Labor Council, AFL-CIO, Endorses Brendan Gill for Congress
MONTCLAIR, NJ — Today, Essex County Commissioner Brendan Gill, candidate for Congress in New Jersey’s 11th Congressional District, announced the endorsement of the Essex-West Hudson Labor Council, AFL-CIO, a coalition representing dozens of affiliated labor unions and thousands of working people, including firefighters, nurses, educators, EMTs, tradespeople, and other essential public servants across New Jersey.
“Brendan Gill has consistently shown that he understands the challenges working families face and that he’s willing to stand up and fight for them,” said Assemblyman Thomas Giblin, President of the Essex-West Hudson Labor Council, AFL-CIO. “Brendan grew up in a union household that taught him the values of protecting workers’ rights to supporting strong public services and safe communities. In his longstanding work for Congressman Bill Pascrell, Governor Phil Murphy, Senator Frank Lautenberg, and Senator Cory Booker, Brendan has earned the trust of labor. We are proud to endorse him for Congress in New Jersey’s 11th District.”
“Throughout my career as Essex County Commissioner, I’ve believed that when workers succeed, our communities succeed,” said Brendan Gill. “I’m honored to earn the endorsement of the Essex-West Hudson Labor Council and the dedicated union workers and the families they represent. I grew up in a union household, so I understand firsthand the dignity of work and the importance of standing together. In Congress, I will always stand with labor to protect working families by fighting for good-paying union jobs and making life more affordable for the families who keep our communities running.”
The Essex-West Hudson Labor Council joins a growing coalition of labor leaders, community organizations, and elected officials backing Gill’s campaign as the race for New Jersey’s 11th Congressional District continues.
