POLITICO reports that while New Jersey Democrats in Congress are urging Trump to release federal funding for Gateway,  “no Republican signed the letter” – including Kean Jr.

Earlier this week, POLITICO New Jersey noted that Kean Jr.’s statement on the upcoming Gateway funding deadline “made no specific mention of the man who’s responsible for the funds being held up.” 

They reported that Kean Jr.’s refusal to call on Trump to release funding wouldn’t just hurt New Jersey – it will also hurt his own reelection campaign: “Who could this controversy I hereby dub Gatewaygate hurt besides New Jersey commuters, the thousands of workers on the project and the regional economy in general? The political career of U.S. Rep. Tom Kean Jr.”

Now, others across New Jersey are taking notice of Kean Jr.’s Gateway scandal and pointing out that his spinelessness could cost him his political career.
DCCC Spokesperson Eli Cousin:
“Career politician Tom Kean Jr. can’t say he wants to ‘represent’ New Jersey in Congress if he won’t go to bat for his own backyard. Thousands of jobs, massive economic investment, and New Jersey commuters are all on the line – but Kean Jr. can’t even bring himself to pick up the phone. What an embarrassment.”
