Governor Mikie Sherrill Endorses Re-Election Campaigns of Mercer County Commissioners Lucy Walter and John Cimino

TRENTON, N.J. — Governor Mikie Sherrill announced Tuesday her endorsement of Mercer County Commissioners Lucy Walter and John Cimino in their re-election campaigns, praising both commissioners for their longstanding commitment to affordability, economic growth, and public service in Mercer County.

Commissioner Lucy Walter, a retired educator and former teachers union leader, has served on the Mercer County Board of Commissioners since 1998. Throughout her tenure, Walter has advocated for working families, marginalized communities, and the expansion of outdoor recreation opportunities across Mercer County.

Commissioner John Cimino, who currently serves as Chief Client Officer for T&M Associates, has represented Mercer County residents on the Board of Commissioners since 2008. Cimino has focused on promoting economic development initiatives, supporting projects built by local skilled workers, and expanding opportunities for housing and homeownership throughout the county.

“Governor Mikie Sherrill has, since day one, put forward an agenda focused on making New Jersey more affordable by lowering energy costs, expanding housing opportunities, and cutting through burdensome government red tape,” said Commissioner Lucy Walter. “That vision aligns directly with the work we are committed to advancing here in Mercer County.”

“At a time when Mercer County is moving in the right direction — earning a bond-rating upgrade, strengthening fiscal responsibility for taxpayers, and advancing transformative economic development — Commissioner Walter and I know this is not the time for inexperienced leadership,” said Commissioner John Cimino. “We are extremely grateful to have the Governor’s support.”

“I’m endorsing Lucy Walter and John Cimino for county commissioner because they have the track record of delivering for residents in Mercer County. They’ve driven a culture of fiscal responsibility in Mercer while also prioritizing strong emergency services and investment in our capital city. They have also stood up against the Trump administration’s expansion of ICE facilities in New Jersey and want to ensure all Mercer County residents feel safe in our communities,”  said Governor Mikie Sherrill. “I know they will continue that strong, principled leadership as your county commissioners.”
