DOVER, NEW JERSEY - A historic, all-female slate of candidates today announced their candidacies for Dover’s Town Council in the 2026 Democratic Primary, marking the first time in Dover’s history that a Town Council slate is composed entirely of women.

If elected, the slate would also result in the Town Council having a female majority for the first time in its over 300-year history.

The candidates, who will run under the Team Dover slogan, include incumbent Council Member Sandra Wittner (Ward One), Dover Board of Education member Dr. Krista Seanor (Ward Two), attorney and lifelong Dover resident Alice Plastoris (Ward Three), and community advocate Elizabeth Tapia (Ward Four).

Together, the candidates bring a broad range of experience - from municipal leadership and education governance to law, community advocacy, and youth engagement - reflecting both the diversity and strength of Dover’s residents.

Ward One: Sandra Wittner
Council Member Sandra Wittner is seeking re-election to a fifth term. Following widespread encouragement from residents, neighbors, and community leaders urging her to continue her service, Wittner reconsidered a previous decision not to seek re-election. Her tenure has been defined by steady leadership, deep institutional knowledge, and a strong commitment to a transparent and responsive local government.

Ward Two: Dr. Krista Seanor
A high school science teacher for over 25 years, Dr. Krista Seanor has lived in Dover since 2005. She is currently in the last year of her third term on the Dover Board of Education, where she previously served as President and Vice President. Known for her collaborative leadership and focus on student success, Dr. Seanor is running for Town Council to continue advocating for families and strengthening the community that has given her and her family so much.

Ward Three: Alice Plastoris
An attorney and former Public Defender for the Town, Alice Plastoris is a lifelong Dover resident and daughter of a lifelong Dover resident. She brings deep community roots and 30 years of professional experience to her candidacy. Alice is committed to ensuring fair, thoughtful decision-making and to protecting the interests of residents and local businesses as Dover plans for its future.

Ward Four: Elizabeth Tapia
Representing a new generation of civic leadership, Elizabeth Tapia is a lifelong Dover resident and a proud member of the Dover High School Class of 2022. Having completed her studies in government and politics, Elizabeth is dedicated to a campaign that reflects both her educational focus and a commitment to helping the community. Her candidacy underscores the importance of youth engagement and fresh perspectives in local government.

“This slate represents both a historic milestone and a shared commitment to service,” the candidates said in a joint statement. “While we are proud to be the first all-female slate in Dover’s history, our focus is not on making history. It is on listening to residents, working together, and delivering results for every resident in our town.”

The Dover Democratic Primary will take place on June 2, 2026.
