Jerry Walker Concludes Service as Hudson County Commissioner, Prepares to Be Sworn in as New Jersey Assemblyman for the 31st Legislative District

Hudson County, NJ — After years of dedicated public service, Hudson County Commissioner Jerry Walker is concluding his term on the Board of County Commissioners as he prepares to be sworn in next week as a New Jersey State Assemblyman representing the 31st Legislative District.
During his tenure as a Hudson County Commissioner, Walker established himself as a strong advocate for working families, public safety, youth development, and equitable investment across Hudson County. His work focused on delivering tangible results, strengthening community partnerships, and ensuring county government remained accessible and responsive to residents.
As Commissioner, Walker played an instrumental role in supporting economic development initiatives, expanding youth and recreational programming, and advancing community-based services throughout the county. He consistently championed investments in infrastructure, public health resources, and programs designed to uplift underserved communities. Through his leadership, county resources were leveraged to better support seniors, families, and small businesses, particularly during periods of economic uncertainty.
“As Hudson County Commissioner, my priority was always to serve with integrity, accountability, and compassion,” said Walker. “This work was never done alone. Team Walker and our community partners made it possible to meet people where they are and deliver real results. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to serve Hudson County.”
Looking ahead to his role in the New Jersey General Assembly, Walker emphasized continuity in his mission to advocate for the 31st Legislative District, which includes Kearny, Bayonne and parts of Jersey City. As Assemblyman, he plans to focus on affordability, public safety, education, workforce development, and policies that strengthen local communities.
“I am honored by the trust residents have placed in me to represent them in Trenton,” Walker added. “As I take this next step, I remain committed to being accessible, responsive, and focused on delivering for the people of the 31st District.”
Jerry Walker will officially be sworn in as a Member of the New Jersey General Assembly next week, marking a new chapter in his public service and continued commitment to the residents of Hudson County.
