Latina Civic Leaders Endorse Analilia Mejía for New Jersey’s 11th Congressional District

NEW JERSEY — Latina Civic leaders across New Jersey proudly endorsed Analilia Mejía for New Jersey’s 11th Congressional District, emphasizing that Latina leadership is essential to building a stronger, more inclusive future for the Garden State.
The endorsement was announced during a live Facebook broadcast on Sunday morning and embodies a shared belief that when Latinas step forward to lead, they expand opportunities not only for their own communities but for everyone. Mejía’s historic campaign signifies a turning point; one where lived experience, service, and conviction come together to redefine what leadership entails in the halls of Congress.
“This endorsement is about recognizing real leadership,” noted Dr. Patricia CamposMedina, president of Latina Civic Action. “What Analilia Mejía has achieved for our community, for working families, and for Latinas across New Jersey demonstrates that voters are prepared for leaders who stand firm, fight with purpose, and deliver results. We need leaders who will clearly and unapologetically defend and uplift our families. We are proud to support Analilia and are dedicated to ensuring she delivers for New Jersey and the future of our nation.”
Laura Matos, Chair of the Latina Civic Political Action Committee, highlighted the historic and cultural importance of the moment. “This is a powerful time to celebrate Latino culture and leadership,” Matos said. “Analilia Mejía’s campaign has been one for the history books, grounded in authenticity, integrity, and love for her community. Latina Civic PAC is proud to have endorsed her in the Primary race and looks forward to continuing our support as she steps into this next chapter of leadership.”
Andrea G. Martinez-Mejía, former president of the Latina Civic Foundation and a current member of the Latina Civic Action Board, announced her support, highlighting Mejía’s
resilience and determination. “Analilia has faced one of the most challenging primaries in our state’s history and has proven, through hard work, sacrifice, and a deep love for our community,” Martinez-Mejía said. “Nothing was handed to her; every position and milestone she achieved was through effort and purpose. We are incredibly proud to stand with her. As we come together to celebrate moments like Bad Bunny at the Super Bowl, we should also recognize that 2026 marks a pivotal year for Latinos, a year to unite, break barriers, and send another Latina to Congress. That Latina is Analilia Mejía.”
Arlene Quiñones, former chairwoman of the Hunterdon County Democrats and counsel to Latina Civic, echoed that sentiment, highlighting the broader impact of Mejía’s candidacy. “I am proudly endorsing Analilia Mejía because she represents strength, integrity, and the potential that arises when we trust in ourselves,” Quiñones said. “She entered this race later than others and still accomplished what many believed was impossible. That demonstrates her leadership and dedication to our values. We succeed when we stand united, support each other, and uplift Latinas. This is how we build power, and this is how we make history."
Mejía, a proud native of Elizabeth, New Jersey, and the daughter of Dominican and Colombian immigrant parents, currently leads the Democratic primary for CD-11 with 18,584 votes (29.1%), ahead of former Congressman Tom Malinowski, who received 17,695 votes (27.7%). With approximately 93% of ballots counted, Mejía leads by about 900 votes, according to the latest tallies. Final results are expected to be fully certified by February 17.
If confirmed, Mejía would become the first Latina to secure the Democratic nomination in CD-11, marking a historic milestone that reflects a broader truth: Latinas are not only prepared to run
in every district but they are also shaping the future of American leadership.
The winner of the Democratic primary will face Republican candidate Joe Hathaway in the general election on April 16.
