LG Dale Caldwell Mourns Jesse Jackson

Lieutenant Governor Dale Caldwell, the Rev. Dr. Gilbert Haven Caldwell marched with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and the Rev. Jesse Jackson.

Jesse Jackson died today. He was 84.

Below are the Lieutenant Governor's comments on this sad day:

"My dad and Jesse Jackson both went to North Carolina A&T. They were arrested together in NYC for protesting a business (A&P) that would not promote Black managers.

"This photo was taken after they were released from jail after an overnight stay. If you go to jail for the right reasons you come out smiling.

"Two icons that paved the way for all of us to succeed in life.

"That torch has been passed.

"Let's work collaboratively to make NJ a model of equity and empowerment that they would be proud of."
