Malinowski Kicks Off Final Full Week of NJ-11 Campaign with Key Endorsements from Maplewood Leaders

Millburn, NJ — As the NJ-11 Special Democratic Primary enters its final full week, Congressman Tom Malinowski today announced endorsements from former Maplewood Mayor Frank McGehee, former Mayor Fred Profeta, and Councilman Greg Lembrich, reflecting a widespread backing from Essex County local leaders heading toward the start of early in-person voting.

In a joint statement, the Maplewood leaders pointed to Malinowski’s record representing Essex County in Congress — including securing federal funding for the Gateway Tunnel and delivering flood relief infrastructure, as well as his leadership as the first Democrat in a swing district to call for Donald Trump’s impeachment.

“Tom has already proven he can deliver for Essex County,“ the statement reads. “At a moment when extremism and corruption threaten our institutions, Tom is exactly the kind of experienced, battle-tested leader we need back in Congress,”

“I’m grateful to have the support of leaders across Maplewood and Essex County as we head into the final stretch of this campaign,” said Malinowski. “With all of the millions of dollars being dumped into negative attacks in this race, these endorsements reflect the broad grassroots support we’ve built — something dark money just can’t buy.”

With early in-person voting beginning later this week, Malinowski’s campaign is diligently focused on turning out voters and maintaining its momentum ahead of the February 5th Special Democratic Primary.
