Newman, a proud Atlantic County resident for more than 40 years, community leader, licensed New Jersey Real Estate Broker, and former elected member of the Hamilton Township Board of Education, has officially announced her candidacy for Hamilton Township Committee. Running under the campaign slogan “Our Community, Our Future,” Newman is committed to delivering responsive, transparent, and accountable local government for every family in Hamilton Township.

About Maria L. Newman

A bilingual leader fluent in Spanish, Maria Newman brings a lived understanding of the diverse voices and experiences that define Hamilton Township. As a Latina and African American resident, she has dedicated her life to bridging communities and ensuring every neighbor — including Spanish-speaking families — has a seat at the table.

From 2020 to June 2023, Newman served as an elected member of the Hamilton Township Board of Education, where she championed students, families, and responsible fiscal decision-making. Professionally, she is the owner of Genesis Realty & Property Management in Northfield, bringing decades of expertise in contract negotiation, regulatory compliance, market analysis, budgeting, and client advocacy — skills that translate directly to effective municipal leadership.

A proud mother and grandmother, Newman is also the legal guardian of her younger grandchildren following the passing of their mother in 2024. She understands firsthand what is at stake for Hamilton Township families and is determined to fight for the neighborhoods, schools, and community infrastructure they deserve.

Banning Data Centers in Hamilton Township

Newman is calling for a ban on large-scale data centers within Hamilton Township. These facilities pose serious and documented concerns for our community: skyrocketing utility bills for residents and businesses, significant health risks from electromagnetic exposure, excessive water consumption straining local resources, and damaging air and noise pollution affecting quality of life. Our township deserves development that lifts up residents — not burdens them.
